Streamline your account by merging redundant or outdated tags in Kartra. Use the Tags page under Contacts to consolidate tags and keep your processes organized.
Key facts about merging tags
Irreversible action: Once merged, selected tags are deleted and cannot be recovered.
Contact updates: Contacts linked to merged tags are reassigned to the final tag.
Automation impacts: Automations or processes referencing merged tags will be cleared.
Before merging, replace any tags used in critical flows (e.g., sequence starting rules) with the tags you intend to keep.
Log entries: Historical logs tied to merged tags will no longer display.
How to merge contact tags in Kartra
Access the Tags page:
Go to Contacts > All contacts
Click the Tags tab
Select tags to merge:
Check the boxes next to one or more tags you want to consolidate.
Tip: Only select the tags you wish to eliminate. The final tag is chosen in the next step.
Open the merge tool:
Click the merge icon at the top right of the Tags table.
A pop-up window will display the selected tags.
Choose a final tag:
Use the dropdown menu to select the tag that will replace the merged tags.
Confirm the merge:
Click Save in the top-right corner of the pop-up.
Merge results
The merged tags are permanently deleted and cannot be restored.
Contacts are re-assigned to the final tag.
Automations and processes tied to merged tags are cleared of the tag reference.
