Learn how to create a survey or quiz in Kartra to collect responses, segment your audience, and trigger follow-up actions automatically.
Surveys in Kartra are flexible tools you can use for feedback, lead generation, assessments, or personalization. This guide walks you through the full setup at a high level, with links to more detailed steps where needed.
Step 1: Create a new survey
To get started:
Go to Contacts > Surveys
Click + New survey
Enter a name for your survey
Choose your survey type:
Traditional survey
Scored quiz
Personality quiz
To enter the survey builder, edit the Content module in the Questions tab.
Step 2: Add and configure questions
Inside the survey builder, you’ll create your questions and define how responses are collected.

Step 3: Customize the survey experience
Use the builder’s sidebar and top menu to control how your survey looks and behaves.
You can:
Add an intro cover
Enable identification (required to track responses and trigger automations)
Define the success step(s):
Show a message
Redirect to another page
Pro tip
You can reward users after they complete a quiz by enabling a certificate within the success message.
From the top menu, you can also:
Preview your survey on desktop, tablet, and mobile
Choose between horizontal (one question per step) or vertical (all questions on one page)
Set your accent color
Step 4 (optional): Use branched paths
If you want to personalize the survey flow, you can use branching.
This allows you to:
Show different questions based on answers
Skip irrelevant questions
End the survey early for certain responses

Step 5 (optional): Configure quiz scoring
If you're creating a scored or personality quiz, you can assign values to answers.
Scored quizzes → mark correct answers
Personality quizzes → assign positive or negative values

Step 6: Configure settings and automations
Once your questions are ready, exit the builder and continue with the remaining tabs in the configuration wizard.
In Settings:
Add a description or logo
Enable or disable confirmation emails
Include dynamic variables like survey score in emails
In Automations:
You can trigger actions when someone completes the survey, such as:
Adding tags
Subscribing to a list or sequence
Granting access to content

After publishing your survey, you can track performance and responses.
Go to Contacts > Surveys > Analyticsto see:

Open a survey and go to Responsesto:
