Automated sequences are ON by default, but only run when a lead is subscribed to them. To turn off a sequence completely, you can pause or delete it.
Run an active sequence
For a sequence to run, two conditions must be met:
First – the steps in the sequence are joined together and activated. This creates the path that a person follows after being added to the sequence.
Then – A lead is added to the sequence, either because they met the conditions of an automation or because they were manually subscribed.
Leads who enter a sequence will progress through each connected step on the schedule set for each one.

Pause a sequence
Go to Marketing > Sequences
Locate the sequence you want to pause
Browse the list, search by keyword, or use the Advanced filters if the sequence is part of a specific campaign
In the Actions column, click the pause icon to turn the sequence “off”
What happens next
When paused, activity in the sequence stops completely.
Anyone currently subscribed will stop at the step they were on when the sequence was paused.
If a lead meets the conditions for automatic subscription to the sequence, they will be subscribed but they will not progress.
If you want to prevent this, delete any starting rules for the sequence and pause or delete any automation rules that can subscribe a lead to the sequence.
If a lead is manually subscribed to the sequence, they will stay at the step they were added to and will not progress.
Delete a sequence
Go to Marketing > Sequences
Locate the sequence you want to delete
Browse the list, search by keyword, or use the Advanced filters if the sequence is part of a specific campaign
In the Actions column, click the delete icon to delete the sequence
Warning
Deleting a sequence removes all references to it from your account, including (not limited to):
Analytics
Lead profile sequence tab entries
Lead log events
Automation rules
You will no longer see any indication that any of your leads were once subscribed to it, for example.
If a sequence is deleted by mistake, you can restore it from the recycle bin. After 30 days in the recycle bin, the sequence will be permanently deleted.
