Depending on your billing location and tax status, VAT, GST, sales tax, or other applicable taxes may be added to your Kartra subscription payments.
You can add a business Tax ID to your account, review taxes on your subscription invoices, and contact Kartra support if you have questions about tax charges or exemptions.
This article covers taxes on payments you make to Kartra, not taxes you collect from customers purchasing your products.
How taxes on Kartra subscriptions work
Kartra subscriptions are subject to applicable tax requirements based on factors such as your billing location and business tax status.
Taxes are not included in the base subscription price. When a tax applies, it appears as a separate charge on your checkout or invoice.
If your business has a registered tax identification number, you can add it to your Kartra account profile.
The Tax ID field accepts different types of business tax identifiers, such as VAT, GST, and TIN numbers.
Add or update your Tax ID
Go to your Profile and locate Business details.
Enter your business name in the Company field.
Under Business, select I am a registered business with a Tax ID.
Enter your registered tax identification number in the Tax ID field.
Click Save in the top-right corner.
Answer your security question to authorize the change.
After saving your Tax ID, validation may take approximately 24–48 hours.
If your Tax ID remains unvalidated after this period, contact Kartra support for assistance.

Can adding a Tax ID remove taxes from my subscription?
Can adding a Tax ID remove taxes from my subscription?
In some jurisdictions, businesses with valid tax identification numbers may qualify for different tax treatment, including business-to-business (B2B) exemptions or reverse-charge arrangements.
Entering a valid Tax ID can prevent certain taxes from being added to subscription payments when the applicable rules allow it. However, adding a Tax ID does not necessarily make every subscription tax-exempt.
Whether tax applies depends on the relevant tax rules and the validity of your business information. If you believe your subscription qualifies for an exemption but tax is still being charged, contact Kartra support.

My country has B2B VAT rules. Do I still need to pay VAT?
Some jurisdictions allow qualifying business purchases to be handled under B2B VAT rules, which may mean the supplier does not charge VAT directly. Where these rules apply, adding a valid VAT ID to your profile or during checkout can prevent VAT from being added to your subscription payments.
If you've provided your VAT ID but VAT continues to appear on your invoices, contact Kartra support to review your account.
