Helpful terms:
  • A favicon is the icon that displays in the browser tab when you visit pages using that domain. Your favicon should be 16x16 pixels or 32x32 pixels in size, and on a transparent background. PNG format is recommended, but .GIF and .JPG are also acceptable.
  • An index page is the page displayed when someone visits your domain. 
  • A 404 error page is the page that displays when someone visits a URL that doesn’t exist on your domain. 

Configure your index and 404 pages

To do this:

  1. Visit Kartra Settings > Domains and click the Domain pages buttonHover over a custom domain to edit or remove it
  2. Configure your index and 404 error pages and favicons and click Save in the upper right
    • Select the pages from the drop-down menus or enter an external URL for each one.

Important:
  • The selected Kartra page must be published before it appears as a configuration option.
  • If you already have a different website you want this domain to open instead, use the External URL option.
  • Do not enter the same domain you are connecting to Kartra as the external URL for the index page, as this will create an endless redirect loop.

About index page URLs

If you want visitors to access your homepage directly from the root domain (for example, yourdomain.com):

  1. Configure the page as the domain’s index page and 
  2. Leave the page’s individual URL set to its default Kartra subdomain URL

If you update the page’s individual URL to use the custom domain:

  • The page must use a page name or subdirectory (for example, yourdomain.com/home). 
  • Visitors accessing the root domain will then be redirected to that page URL instead.
