Check your plan

Basic automations are included with all Kartra plans. Advanced automations are included with the Growth plan and above.

Use automation rules to grant or revoke access to a membership when something else happens in your account.

Important:
  • Revoking membership access does not automatically cancel any recurring charges associated with the member unless you have an automation configured to do so.
  • Likewise, canceling a subscription does not always revoke membership access automatically. This depends on how the membership access was originally granted:
    • If the membership is linked as a product’s content, canceling the subscription will automatically revoke access.
    • If access was granted separately through an automation, you must also create an automation to revoke access when the subscription is canceled.
  • Review your product and automation setup carefully to ensure members do not retain access after cancellation or continue being charged after access is removed.

Membership access with a basic automation rule

Basic automation rules are configured in the setup wizard for the different types of assets you can create. These rules are triggered by a limited set of events specific to the parent asset.

Open the asset you want to modify and go to the Basic automation step

Click + New Automation

Grant membership access when a form is completed

  1. Use the IF drop-down to select the trigger. This is the event that will cause the rule to start.
Click Add to save the trigger
    • A new AND drop-down statement appears
    • Define an AND condition for the automation (Optional)
  2. Use the THEN drop-downs to define the action Grant access to membership
Click Add to save the action
    • A new AND drop-down statement appears
    • Define an additional AND action for the automation (Optional)
  3. Save the rule
  4. Save the Basic automation module and complete the asset setup wizard

Membership access with an advanced automation rule

Pro tip

Use advanced automations to create unique user journeys! Trigger membership access based on a lead score (shown in the example above), whether a lead completes a video, or completes an access level from another membership.
