Create an affiliate program on opt-in

You might want to enable an affiliate program on opt-in if:

• Your sales funnel focuses on generating leads rather than immediate sales.
• You want to track and/or reward affiliates for referred opt-ins, not just purchases.

Key details:

• Product-based configuration: All affiliate programs — including those based on opt-ins — are configured from within a product. This is true even if you're not selling anything.
• Tracking without commissions: Affiliate programs can also be used for tracking. You can set commissions to $0 if you only want to measure referrals without paying out.
• Affiliate link tracking requirements: 
  • To track opt-ins as affiliate referrals, you must add your opt-in page under Landing pages for your affiliate traffic.
  • Affiliates need to share their promo link for that specific page in order to receive credit.

Step 1: Create or edit a product

1. Go to Sales > Products.
2. Create a new product or edit an existing one to connect it to your opt-in form. Learn how to create a product.

Step 2: Enable the Affiliate program

In your product’s settings:

1. Go to the Affiliates tab.
2. Expand the Affiliate program on opt-in module
3. Activate affiliate program on opt-in, then:
   • Choose the relevant opt-in form
   • (Optional) Set up affiliate and JV commissions. 
   • Click Save.

Step 3: Configure additional settings

Once the opt-in program is activated, new settings will appear:

1. (Optional) Your affiliates list
   • Affiliates that promote this opt-in will be subscribed to this list.
2. (Optional) Tag your affiliates
   • Affiliates that promote this opt-in will be assigned this tag.
3. (Optional) Payment milestones
   • This setting tells Kartra whether to calculate commissions as soon as the opt-in or purchase takes place, or at a later date. It is particularly helpful if you’re selling a subscription-based product with a trial period. 
4. Landing pages for your affiliate traffic
   • By default, the product’s page (selected in the Pages tab) will be listed here.
     
   • You should also add your opt-in page here. This allows affiliates to use referral links to promote the opt-in page specifically. Learn where your affiliates can find their promo links.
     

Step 4: Share your affiliate sign-up page

Get quick links to a Kartra-hosted affiliate sign-up module from your products dashboard.

1. Go to Sales > Products
2. Locate the product that is enabled for affiliate promotion on opt-in
3. Click the people icon in the product module
4. Copy the Link to your affiliate page from the pop-up window
5. Share the link to allow people to apply to join your affiliate program
