Learn how to fix common problems when connecting a custom domain to Kartra.

Domain stuck in “Processing”

Domain connections require processing in two places:

  • your domain registrar
  • your Kartra account

Most domains finish processing within a few minutes to a few hours, and almost all complete within 24 hours. In some cases, processing may take up to 48 hours.

A domain remains in processing when Kartra is still waiting for confirmation (“pingback”) from your domain host that the DNS connection is correct. This delay is usually caused by slow DNS propagation.

What to do

If your domain is still processing after 24 hours, contact Kartra Support and include a screenshot of your CNAME records (or your entire DNS records page if you used manual setup). 

This helps us confirm whether your DNS values are set up correctly. 


Redirect error

A redirect error happens when one page sends a visitor to another page, which then redirects back to the first, creating an endless loop.

This usually occurs when the domain’s Index page is set to a page on the same domain you are trying to connect as an External URL.

Example:

  • You connect yourdomain.com
  • Then you configure its Index page to go to https://yourdomain.com/home. This causes an infinite redirect loop and prevents the domain from resolving.

How to fix it

Choose a Kartra page as your Index page or change the External URL so it does not point to a page on the same domain you are connecting. 


“Domain name already exists” error

This error appears when the domain you’re trying to connect is already stored in Kartra’s system, meaning it is currently associated with a Kartra account.

This can happen when:

  • The domain is connected to another Kartra account
  • The domain was recently disconnected (from your account or a different one) and hasn’t fully cleared from Kartra’s database yet

How to fix it

A domain removed from an account is usually cleared from our database within one hour. However, this can take longer at times. If you still see the error after 24 hours, contact Kartra Support so we can check which account the domain is associated with.
