What is a campaign?

In Kartra, a campaign is a series of marketing components designed to help you achieve a goal, like collecting email leads, promoting a product, or driving sales. It combines elements like emails, web pages, and opt-in forms to automatically engage with your audience.

The best part? Once set up, Kartra will do the heavy lifting, automating much of the work for you!

How to start your first campaign

Select a launch goal to get started with Kartra

The first time you log into Kartra, you'll be prompted to choose a launch goal. This goal represents what you want to achieve with your campaign (e.g., building an email list, selling a product). Once you select a goal, Kartra will set up the structure of a campaign for you.

You’ll be able to customize it step by step, learning how each part of Kartra works as you go. When you’re finished, you’ll have everything you need to launch an automated campaign that runs smoothly on its own.

If you missed the welcome prompt, don’t worry! You can always start a new campaign by clicking Get Started in the top-left corner of your account menu, or by navigating to Campaigns and selecting + Campaign.

When you choose a goal:

  • Kartra deploys a full campaign for you, with all the pieces needed to launch a new marketing process.
  • Using the guided campaign setup, open, review, and customize each asset in the campaign
    • Pay special attention to the areas where your branding will be on display, like web pages and emails. Add your logo, customize colors and fonts, and add text and media that align with your brand persona.
  • As you finish going through each group of assets, mark them complete.
  • When all the sections of your campaign have been marked complete, you're ready to test!

How to test your campaign

Before launching, it’s important to test your campaign to make sure everything works as expected. Here’s how:

  1. Get the link to the first page in your campaign (usually a landing or sales page).
  2. Open the link in your browser and carefully check the page. Review the text, click every link, test forms, and make sure images display correctly.
    • If anything isn’t working, go back to the page in Kartra and fix the issue.
  3. Complete the entire process as a customer would. For example, if you’re selling a product, go through the checkout process using a credit card (you can cancel later). Then review the thank you page just like you did with the landing page.
  4. Check your emails: Depending on the campaign, you may receive automated emails. Check your inbox for the test email address you used (from an opt-in form or checkout), and ensure the content looks correct.

Pro tip

Testing means going through every step as a customer would and making sure everything works. This includes checking for broken links, missing images, or incorrect email content. If a customer can see or click on something, make sure it’s working properly!

How to launch your campaign

Once everything is tested and ready, launching your campaign is simple! Just start directing people to your first page, like a landing page or sales page.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Copy the link to the first page in your campaign.
  2. Start sharing the link—you can post it on social media, use it in a paid ad campaign, send it in emails, or share it any other way you want.

Pro tip

Before diving into paid ads, send some organic traffic (unpaid visitors) to your campaign. This could be colleagues, friends, or a small group of followers who can review everything and give feedback. After they’ve helped catch any last-minute mistakes, you can confidently launch your paid ad campaign.
