Custom fields let you collect additional details about your prospects or customers. You can add them to any form and view responses in contact profiles.

Key Details

  • Two ways to find responses: View custom field analytics or filter contacts by responses.
  • Custom field analytics show how many contacts submitted a response and allow you to see a list of contacts who submitted responses.
  • Filters help you segment contacts based on their response to a custom field, with conditions like Is, Contains and Does not contain.

How to view custom field responses

Option 1: View custom field analytics

  1. Go to Contacts > All contacts.
  2. Click Custom fields at the top.
  3. Find or search for your custom field in the table.
  4. Click the number in the Contacts column to open a list of contacts who submitted a response for that field.
  5. Click a name to open their profile and see their response in the Profile tab.

Option 2: Filter contacts by custom field and response

You can filter your contact list based on the answers people gave in a specific custom field. For example, if you collected information about a person’s age, you can look for only the contacts who selected “25-34.”

Follow these steps to filter your contacts:

  1. Go to Contacts > All contacts
  2. Click on the Advanced Filters icon.
  3. Select Custom field… in the first dropdown.
  4. Choose the custom field you want to filter by.
    View custom field responses
  5. Select a condition to define how the filter works:
    • Is – Shows only contacts whose answer exactly matches what you enter.
      • Example: If you filter for "Industry is E-commerce," you will only see contacts who answered exactly “E-commerce.”
    • Is not – Hides contacts who gave the exact answer you enter.
      • Example: If you filter for "Industry is not E-commerce," all contacts with "E-commerce" as their answer will be removed from the list.
    • Contains – Finds contacts whose answer includes the word or phrase you enter.
      • Example: If you filter for "Industry contains Tech," your list will include "Tech Startup" and "Health Tech."
    • Does not contain – Hides contacts whose answer includes the word or phrase you enter.
      • Example: If you filter for "Industry does not contain Tech," contacts with "Tech Startup" or "Health Tech" will be removed from the list.
  6. Enter a value (this is the response you are looking for, such as "E-commerce").
  7. Click Add to apply the filter.

With the filter applied, you’ll see only the contacts that match your custom field conditions. This makes it easier to group similar contacts and target the right audience.
