Mailgun is an external email delivery service that can be integrated with your Kartra account to send emails. It can be used as an alternative or alongside Kartra's built-in service, KartraMail.
How to integrate Mailgun with Kartra
You will need a Mailgun account to complete this guide. Visit Mailgun's website to create one.
Create Kartra integration
- Go to Settings > Integrations
- Click + Integration in the top right
- In the Providers window, select Mailgun and click Next
- Log in to your Mailgun account in a separate browser tab to get an API key and Domain.
- In the configuration window, fill in the fields:
- Gateway name: Name your integration. This is to help you identify it in your account.
- API key: Create a sending API key in Mailgun (see more help below)
- Domain: Copy your sending domain from Mailgun
- Domain region: Select your domain region.
- Sender: Add a sender name and send-from / reply-to email addresses.
- Click Create to save the integration when all fields are complete.
In MailGun:
- Get an API key
- Go to Send > Sending > Domain settings from the left sidebar
- Navigate to the Sending API keys section in Domain settings
- Click Add sending key in the top right corner
- Add a name and click Create sending key
- Copy the Sending API key from the following window and paste it into Kartra
- Get your sending Domain
- Go to Send > Sending > Domains from the left sidebar
- Copy your Mailgun domain and paste it into Kartra
- Turn off Tracking for your Domain
- Go to Send > Sending > Domain settings
- Locate the Tracking settings (click tracking, open tracking, etc.) on the primary page
- Toggle all tracking settings to OFF
If Mailgun tracking is turned on, tracking codes are injected into your Kartra emails that can interfere with your email content, links, etc. Kartra will track email engagement for messages sent with Mailgun so you can turn this option off without any loss of data.
