Learn what a landing page is, and when to use them to support your goals.
A landing page is a type of web page designed to guide visitors toward one clear action.
You might use a landing page when you want to:
- Capture new contacts or email subscribers
- Register visitors for an event or webinar
- Promote a specific offer or next step
This is especially helpful when visitors arrive from an ad, email, or promotion and already have a specific expectation about what they will learn or do next.
What makes landing pages effective
Landing pages are designed to remove distractions and keep visitors focused. Everything on the page exists to support one goal, and anything that could pull attention away from it is usually left out.
A well-designed landing page typically:
- Has a clear call to action (like opt-in, sign up, or make a purchase)
- Keeps navigation and extra links to a minimum
- Matches the message that brought the visitor there (such as an email or ad)
- Includes only the information needed to make one decision
For example, if someone clicks a link that says “Sign up for the webinar”, a landing page shows them information about the webinar and a clear spot to sign up, without asking them to browse elsewhere first.
How to build a landing page in Kartra
Once you understand what a landing page is and when to use one, the next steps are to:
- Decide what action you want visitors to take
- Build a page designed to support that action
In Kartra, use the Pages feature to build any kind of web page. Kartra includes a wide range of pre-built page templates designed around common goals, industries, and page types that you can choose from.
To choose a template:
- Go to Pages > All Pages, and click + Page.
- Use the dropdowns at the top to filter through the templates.
You can filter by:
- Industry
- Goal
- Page type
- Colors
For example, you’ll find templates for:
- Growing an email list (squeeze pages, thank you pages)
- Selling a product or service (sales pages, checkout pages)
- Promoting an event or webinar (registration pages, live event pages)
Each template is built with a specific purpose in mind, helping you start with a layout that matches your goal rather than designing everything from scratch. This helps reduce guesswork when creating pages, especially if you’re just getting started.
