Help your customers understand and agree to your billing terms before completing a purchase.

You can set up explicit and implicit agreement types, depending on how you want the checkout experience to flow.

Key details

  • Explicit terms: Buyers must check an agreement box before the payment button becomes active.
  • Implicit terms: Your terms label is displayed before the payment button along with a tooltip that shows your terms.
  • Products vs. Checkouts: If you choose the implicit agreement option, it will only be available in Checkouts. If you still use the Legacy checkouts on your pages, explicit terms will be displayed (checkbox required).
Important:

This feature allows you to display billing terms to buyers during checkout.

You remain responsible for maintaining your own Terms & Conditions and Policies pages that accurately reflect your business practices.

Consult a legal adviser if you have not yet created these documents.

How to set it up

  1. Go to Sales > Products, and click the name of the product.
  2. Access the Legacy checkout tab.
  3. Click Change to edit the Terms and conditions module.
  4. Select Yes, require them to agree.

  • When buyers hover over the tooltip , they can view the full text of your terms as defined in the product settings.
  • Use this option if you want a faster checkout experience.

Explicit terms (forced acceptance)

  • Hovering over the terms label also reveals the full text of your terms from the product settings.
  • Use this option if your region or business requires explicit consent.
