Broadcasts are one-time email or SMS messages you can send to your contacts. You can apply up to five recipient conditions to ensure the message reaches the right audience. Once set up, you can choose to send the broadcast immediately or schedule it for later.
Create a new email or SMS broadcast
- Go to Marketing > Emails & SMS and click the + Email/SMS button in the upper right corner.
- Select either email or SMS, and give your broadcast a name.
- If you're creating an email, choose a design template or select plain text.
- Click Create.
Once your broadcast is created, most options are pre-filled by default. You can then review and adjust settings by clicking through each section.
Design the message
In the Message section, click Edit message to open the broadcast editor.
Design options:
- The template you selected is preloaded in the editor. To change it, click Select template in the top left.
- Your saved or favorited templates appear in this gallery.
- Drag content blocks from the sidebar to add new elements (text, images, etc.) to your message.
Personalize the content:
- Add a subject and preview text for the message at the top of the editor.
- Customize the body, images, buttons, footers, and more in the drag-and-drop editor.
- Add variables (e.g., the recipient's name) to add personalized details to the message if desired.
Preview your email:
- Click Send test email in the top right toolbar to see how the message will look for your recipients. Note: In tests, any variables in the message will appear as “TEST.”
Pro tip: Save your design for future use by clicking Actions > Save as template. Saved templates will appear in your main template gallery.
From-To: Choose a sender and recipients
- Sender details: Set the name and address your message will appear to come from. By default, this uses your pre-configured mail or SMS gateway settings.
- Choose recipients: Define who will receive the broadcast by setting conditions. You can refine your audience with AND/OR conditions for more precise targeting (e.g., send to contacts on a specific list AND with a certain tag).
Important: The "Ignore GDPR & CCPA" option allows you to send emails to contacts who opted out of receiving marketing messages when they joined your list. Use this option carefully, and only for messages that meet exceptions under relevant data privacy regulations.
Adding automations (optional)
You can set up automations based on how recipients engage with your broadcast. For example:
- IF the contact opens the email, assign them points or trigger follow-up actions.
- IF the contact doesn't open the email within a set time, send a reminder.
- IF the contact clicks a link, assign points or send additional content.
In the example below, when a contact opens the email, they are assigned 10 points, contributing to their overall lead score.
Sending or scheduling your broadcast
When you're ready, click Send / Schedule in the top right corner.
- Send immediately: If everything is set, send the broadcast right away.
- Schedule for later: Choose a specific time and date for your broadcast to go out.
- Save as draft: Save your work and finish the broadcast later.
Note: Scheduled broadcasts are sent in your account time zone.
