Product checkouts created in your Kartra account remain active until you decide to stop selling them.
Go to Sales > Products to view and edit your product checkout settings.
Important: Changing, pausing, or deleting a product only affects new sales of that product.
Existing subscription billing associated with the product will remain active and continue to renew on the pricing and schedule that your customer agreed to when they signed up. Learn how to cancel or pause a customer payment subscription.
There are three ways to deactivate a product and stop new sales (marked in the previous image).
Test mode (vs Live)
Real orders cannot be processed if the toggle is set to test mode. Test mode is intended to help you test the automations and other operations you set up for a product, allowing you to test the checkout and post-purchase processes without using a real credit card.
- Not recommended for long-term use. Your checkout will look like a live checkout for anyone on your sales page but will show the message: “THIS IS ONLY A TEST ORDER! No actual payment will be charged.“ Leaving a product in test mode may confuse visitors to your site.
Delete product
Deleting the product from your account completely removes the asset from your product dashboard and all related sales analytics.
- Not recommended for products that have a real sales history. Deleting is best for test assets that were never sold or in any case where you no longer need the sales or conversion analytics. Visitors to the checkout form for a deleted product will see the error: “This asset does not exist or its configuration is incomplete.“
Pause product
Pause selling for a product that is no longer available or that you want to retire. In your account (shown in the next image), the asset will display the message: “Product is currently not taking sales.”
- Best option to stop selling a product. The product remains available for reactivation in the future if desired and all sales analytics are preserved in your account. Visitors to the checkout form for a deleted product will see the error: “This asset does not exist or its configuration is incomplete.“
