This guide walks you through the process of setting up an automated email sequence in Kartra.

Sequences allow you to manage customer interactions, such as follow-ups and reminders, automatically. By following these steps, you'll learn the basics of how to create a sequence while building a simple cart abandonment sequence.


Follow Along: Create a Sequence Step-by-Step

  1. Accessing the Sequence Builder
    1. Navigate to the Marketing section in Kartra and select Sequences.
    2. Click + Sequence in the top-right corner to start a new sequence.
    3. Enter a Name (for internal reference) and a Public Description (visible to your customers on the subscription management page).
  2. Setting Up Your Sequence Canvas
    1. Kartra provides a drag-and-drop interface to design your sequence.
    2. Use the sidebar to add steps like sending emails, adding automations, or splitting the path.
  3. Adding Your First Email
    1. Drag an Email step onto the canvas.
    2. Configure the email:
      1. Timing: Set a delay (e.g., 24 hours after the sequence starts).
      2. Conditions: Decide if any filters should apply (e.g., specific tags or actions).
      3. Content: Edit the email to include personalized text, images, and links. For cart abandonment, for example, include a product image and link back to the sales page.
    3. Activate the email step and connect it to the sequence start.
  4. Adding Additional Emails (or Other Steps)
    1. Drag a new Email step into the canvas or clone the first email to create follow-ups (e.g., a 48-hour reminder).
    2. Update the timing and content for each additional step.
    3. Activate and connect each step in the sequence to ensure proper flow.
  5. Defining the Sequence Start and Completion
    • Configure the Starting Rule:
      • Example: Use a tag (e.g., "Cart Abandoned") applied to customers who visit the checkout but do not purchase.
    • Add a Completion Step to mark the sequence as finished after all emails are sent.
  6. Monitoring Sequence Performance
    • Once live, go to Marketing > Sequences > Analyticsto see how the sequence performs:
      • Email open rates
      • Revenue generated
      • Customer interactions at each step
