Create a new broadcast in Marketing > Emails & SMS

When creating a new broadcast, selecting your recipient group is a key step. Kartra automatically provides a recipient summary, so you can see at a glance how many contacts meet your criteria and how many are blocked from receiving your message.

What is the recipient summary?

Lead summary bar with number of blocked leads listed

The recipient summary appears at the bottom of the screen after you choose the criteria for your email broadcast. It shows a breakdown of:

  • Leads selected: The total number of contacts who match the criteria you've set under "Communication recipients." This is your initial recipient group.
  • Email filled in: The number of contacts in the selected group with an email address in their lead profile.
    • For an SMS broadcast, this shows the number of contacts with a phone number in their profile.
  • Blocked: The number of contacts who cannot be mailed for specific reasons, explained below.

Understanding blocked leads

Blocked leads are contacts who cannot receive your emails for one of the following reasons:

  • Do not contact: These leads have opted out of communications by selecting "Do not contact me again" in their email preferences. You no longer have permission to email them.
  • Spam complaint: Leads who have previously filed a spam complaint about one of your emails. Again, you are no longer allowed to email these contacts.
  • Declined commercial messages: Leads who have chosen not to receive commercial messages under regulations like GDPR and CCPA. Without explicit consent, promotional messages cannot be sent to these contacts.
  • Blocklisted: Leads who are blocked for other reasons, such as invalid or misspelled email addresses, or those that previously resulted in a hard bounce.

Total to send

After reviewing the recipient summary, the Total to send is the final number of recipients that Kartra will attempt to deliver your message to, excluding any blocked leads. This ensures that your broadcast adheres to consent regulations and targets only deliverable addresses.
