Kartra uses email verification systems to remove, or blocklist, known spammers and undeliverable emails. We do this to ensure the highest possible rate of email delivery for all Kartra users.
Contacts display a status bubble in the Contacts dashboard. Hovering over the status bubble shows more information and available actions.
Key details
- When a contact is successfully safelisted, an entry appears in their log with the date and time of the change.
- Clearing blocklisted contacts must be done one at a time. If you have a large number of blocklisted leads, contact the support team for help.
- Safelisted contacts will be available to mail in future communications. If delivery to the new address fails, the contact will be blocklisted again.
Request a safelist review
If a contact’s issue may be temporary or was caused by an incorrect email address, a Check again button appears in the status popover.
To update a contact and request a new verification check:
- Open the contact record and update the email address if needed
- Confirm that the spelling and domain are correct
- Save the contact
- Hover over the contact’s status bubble
- Click Check again

After you check again:
- If the contact passes verification, the restricted status is removed automatically.
- If the contact still cannot be cleared automatically, a Request safelist button appears.
- Click Request safelist to submit the contact for safelist review.
Instant approval for trusted accounts
- Accounts older than 90 days may qualify for automatic safelist approval.
- If your account is eligible, the contact is safelisted immediately and the restriction is removed automatically.
- Some requests, including requests from newer accounts, require manual review before approval.
Daily safelist request summaries
- Safelist request results are sent in a daily summary email.
- If multiple safelist requests are submitted in the same day, they are grouped into a single notification.
Supported statuses
Safelist requests are available for:
- Blocklisted contacts
- Spam complaints
- Multiple soft bounces
Spam complaints
A Spam complaint status is applied when a contact marks one of your messages as spam.

This status indicates that the contact previously revoked consent to receive messages from you.
If you confirm with the contact that the complaint was submitted in error, you can hover over the status bubble and click Request safelist.
Depending on your account status, the request may either:
- Be approved automatically
- Be submitted for manual review
If approved, you should be able to email the contact again.
