Learn how Kartra can automatically configure your DKIM authentication for you, whether you purchase a new domain from Ionos through Kartra or add a domain hosted by a supported provider.
If your hosting provider supports automatic DNS updates, Kartra will automatically create the DNS records necessary for DKIM authentication. Otherwise, learn how to manually create DKIM records for Kartra.
How automatic DKIM setup works
DKIM can be configured automatically in one of two ways. Both options allow Kartra to create the CNAME records required for DKIM authentication, without needing to log into your hosting account:
- Buying a new domain inside Kartra from IONOS
If you purchase a domain from Ionos through Kartra, it will be connected for you right after checkout. No additional domain configuration is required.
- Adding an existing domain hosted by a supported provider
When you add a domain you already own, Kartra will check whether your hosting provider supports automatic DKIM setup.
To trigger the automatic DKIM configuration for your domain hosted by a supported provider:
- Go to Settings > Domains > DKIM.
- Click + DKIM and choose Add DKIM record.
- Enter your domain name.
- If your hosting provider is supported, the Automatic configuration option becomes available.

- Select it and click Finish.
Kartra will automatically create the CNAME records needed for DKIM authentication.
Automatic setup will be unavailable if your hosting provider is not supported.
In this case:
- The Automatic configuration option is greyed out.
- Kartra will display the manual DNS values you need to add at your registrar.

After DKIM is configured
Once DKIM setup succeeds:
- Your domain appears under Settings > Domains > DKIM
- You can immediately send authenticated email through KartraMail
