Control how upcoming or restricted posts appear to your members, whether you want to build anticipation, reduce clutter, or keep their focus on the current lesson.
A post can be locked for a member if:
- They don’t have access to the level that contains that post, or
- The post is scheduled to release later through a drip schedule.
Because of this, the Managing locked posts module only appears if at least one post is locked by one of those conditions. If you don’t see this module in your membership settings, make sure that at least one post is restricted by level or drip timing.
Choose how locked posts appear
You can decide how unavailable posts display in your membership menu:
- Hidden from sight
- Visible but unclickable
- Visible with a teaser window
Which option should I choose?
You can choose any option depending on your course structure. Each condition type (locked by access or by schedule) has its own visibility settings, so you can mix different options for different posts.
Option | When to use it |
Don't display locked posts in the navigation bar | Best for tightly structured courses where you don't want members distracted by upcoming lessons. |
Display post, but keep it unclickable | Good if you want to show the overall course structure without allowing early access. |
Display post, and pop a teaser window | Useful when you want to keep members excited for what's next or promote higher access levels. |
Pro tip
Not all teasers have to be sales-focused. You can use them to preview upcoming lessons or offer encouragement like “Coming soon”
Manage locked posts
- Go to Memberships in your Kartra dashboard.
- Click your membership’s name and select the Access tab.
- Click Change to edit the Managing locked posts module.
Depending on what’s locking your posts, you can set up visibility for:
- Posts outside the user’s access level
- Posts not available yet, but drip-fed in due time
- Or both
- Choose your preferred display option for each post.
- Click Save to apply your changes.
Customize teaser windows
If you choose the teaser option, you can design your pop-up content:
- Edit the image and text to fit your course branding.
- Include a short message like “Stay tuned: this lesson unlocks soon!”
The pop-up templates available for drip-fed posts contain countdowns that dynamically adjust for each member.
